                   The Whitehouse inn

In addition, visitors to Littleborough should arrange a table for a meal at the White House, Blackstone Edge, take the A58 from Littleborough towards Halifax.  The white House, is situated on the top of the moors, only a one mile drive uphill,  but I must tell you that from the top, on the Whitehouse car-park, the view over Rochdale, and Manchester, is stunning!  In addition, the friendliness and hospitality of the owners and staff at the White house is also excellent

What is happening in Jackson, Tennessee!

Before you go to any links please read this!  I chose not to write about disasters since 9/11. However I had to change my mind! Below are the true words of a man I will never, ever forget. Whilst I was watching the American news, on English TV He was wading through the water with two kids, managing to keep the tears from his eyes, saying to the camera live, on the day after the hurricane …

That’s all I had, that’s all I had … but now she’s gone, yeh now she’s go’ r’ n ‘

I had hold of her head!! But! … Now … I think she dead …Take care of my kids she said

She say keep your promise, then she told me … then I knew, she can’t hold me …

… Then, someone cried, there’s maybe thousands died! … Biloxi 2005

These words I dedicate to all true Americans. Because they belong to you spoken by a

TRUE (nameless) HERO, that didn’t give up.

Below are the words and free music download, I wrote in respect of that man, and all the thousands of people that where made homeless, or lost close relatives, in the terrible disaster of the Mississippi floods, caused by hurricane Katrina! … I threw the picture in; it was taken on my last tour, of the southern states.  I took this shot in Jackson Tennessee!  I was invited by the husband of Denise LaSalle (“don’t mess with my toot toot”, fame) to his studio and agency offices, He told me the door was collected by him, courtesy of some workmen, shortly after the day it was taken down!  The door and glass door panel with writing are real, and not so old!! This picture alone, should tell you what the song is about

I had to write this song!

Muddy waters of the Mississippi

My past is rushing by

As I’m searchin’ through

The muddy waters

Of the Mississippi

I’m lookin’ for the world

I left behind

I’m lookin’ at

My reflection in

The muddy waters

Of the Mississippi

Cryin’ out for my life

I left behind

CHORUS

It was only yesterday

We were holdin’ hands n’ dancing in the park

Now my life’s been washed away

An’ I’m left here hangin’ in the dark

Now I’m standin’ here

Yeh standin’ in

The muddy waters

Of the Mississippi

Watchin’ my life drift away

With the tide

SOLO guitar …….

CHORUS …………………………………………..

It was only yesterday

We were holdin’ hands n’ dancing in the park

Now my life’s been washed away

An’ I’m left here hangin’ in the dark

I’m searchin’ everywhere

My tears are rollin’ down

The muddy waters

Of the Mississippi

Cryin’ out to the world

I left behind

**************

Paul

Sad news; On Sunday the 14th of January 2007, one of my best musical friends

Paul Metcalf passed away.  Paul had fought with cancer for the last 3years and won!

Sadly the treatment he had received to cure the cancer, although curing him, it rendered

him to weak, to fight off, his final ailment.  God bless you Paul you will always be remembered.

and I dedicate this space for you.  Paul played keyboards on the original version of “Pandora’s Box”,

and “Just Waistin’ away” we recorded them within a six month interval of each other, also Paul

was the resident keyboard at the Ritz Manchester, in the sixties!  If you would like

to here the original version of “Pandora’s Box” and the only version of “Just Wastin’ Away”

then please go to my music download page below!   This was the last song that I ever recorded with Paul, and it brings back great memories for me!  We recorded it in Paul’s bedroom, he had it all set up for him & Keith (Keith was Paul’s gig guitarist and partner!) Keith unfortunately had a stroke about a year before Paul started showing signs of his illness in 2004.  However he was getting better last time I heard! That day in 2002 Paul was his usual bouncing self and ready to go, I had only asked him a few hours before would he record it for me.  First of all I played and sang the song with just my guitar (1956 ES 120T), plugged and mike’d up Then as usual did a sound check, and with no metronome!  I played it through.  I asked Paul if he could make the sad song sound happy with a Jamaican feel, like kettle drums!  Then I went down stairs to talk to Sue, Paul’s Partner while Paul was playing and using his Yamaha Xd10 to put the drums on.  After about twenty minutes I returned to the room, and Paul was sat there telling me that I don’t have to put a voice over its good enough for jazz! So here it is, exactly as it was on that day, recorded by Paul.

The song “Just Wastin’ Away” I wrote one day when I was reflecting on my heavy drinking, and social habits, also to all the people who do MEANING’LESS things in there life, on a daily habitual basis!  If you would like to listen to this and plenty more of my music for Free

Then just click on the link to my music download page, directly below!
